The World, 1940 by edthomasten The World, 1940 by edthomasten
Something from an alternate universe. Contains spoilers for "Fight and Be Right" so if you're going to discuss it, please do so here rather than!

what a bad map! In 1940 Russia were already USSR and Ukraine do not existed as a separate state.
An another thing is that you can't have a map of 1940 because war was going on and borders where changing in weeks.
other errors are the Sakhalin that was divided in half between Japan and USSR and Primorsk whas always part of Russia.

This is a map of an alternate history setting, not real life. It's mentioned in the description.

I like the dirt on the map - looks used.

Good map, but why is Korea spelled with a c instead of a k.

Nice map (I did not expect that France retains so many overseas territories) but I noticed the different territory size of Kampuchea, the Chinese Trans-Amur Region and many other countries and regions compared to the older maps.
Which maps are more "canon", the world map or the continental maps?
Maine86 Featured By Owner May 4, 2015
If France cannot retain its overseas territories, why don't you ask the same question about the UK? And FYI, France has much more overseas territories than Britain in 2015. So I don't understand your comment...

This is an alternate history where France lost a war against an alliance of UK, Italy and Japan in the late 19th century.
Large parts of France's colonial empire were divided between the victorious alliance members and others.
I was surprised that four decades later France owns still so many overseas territories.

I've tried to get as close approximation of the borders on the continental map as possible- there may be a few small discrepancies here and there but ultimately the continent maps, as they're more detailed, should be taken as the 'canon' ones I guess.

Do you happen to have the base map?
edthomasten Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2010
I used [link] as a base if that's any help...

The far east looks interesting - looks like Russia's in for a beating some time the future!

Just a small thing - New York and the New England states don't have any borders. But amazing stuff, something to aspire to.

Excellent point, hadn't spotted that! I'll amend it.
